What about Confidentiality?
I operate on a strictly confidential basis.
That is, I will not to talk to anyone about what goes on in your coaching session. Any notes that I take are kept under lock and key and are obviously available only to you, as Client, should you so wish.
You , however, can talk about what goes on to anybody you like in any way you like.
What is Coaching?
Let’s start with what it’s not.
It’s not training, or teaching or telling, and it’s not therapy.
It is often confused with counselling. Counselling is to do with ‘fixing’ something.
Coaching starts from the belief that the individual doesn’t need 'fixing'. He or she is already a healthy, whole, complete human being.
Coaching is to do with change. It helps individuals marshal resources they need to make the changes they want, to get the best out of life. It is to do with unleashing potential, and leaving behind habits and beliefs which are past their sell-by date.
What is special about the coaching that ChangePoints provides is that it is meta-coaching (‘meta’ meaning: beyond, above, at a different level) . Traditional coaching gets a person from A to B, with some planned steps in between. Meta-coaching works with the whole person - their feelings, thoughts and environment, as well as their behaviour.
The best way to give an example of this is to take the analogy of someone wanting to get fit and employing a personal trainer at a gym to help them do it. They can go to the gym 3 times a week, and the trainer will cheer them on to do all the required exercises, the right number of times, and it works really well. When the trainer is sick or on holiday, however, the person might get themselves down to the gym and manage to do some of the exercises for some of the time, but they are likely to find it very difficult to keep up the momentum alone, without the trainer alongside. What meta-coaching does is to work with them to find what would really motivate them to get fit, and how they want to do it, which might be something completely different, but which they will stick to regardless of other events …
Can coaching be done by telephone?
It is perfectly possible to do a Coaching Programme by telephone, provided the Client is comfortable with this approach. Ideally, however, it is a good idea to meet up at least once, preferably in the early stages.
The majority of NLP Sessions, (which are normally about habit-busting) I do face to face. But once rapport has been created with the client, it is certainly possible to do any subsequent sessions successfully by telephone.
